Chinowa (a large ring made of woven reeds)
Worshippers who wish to purify themselves walk through a chinowa, placed in front of the shrine's main building, and get ready for another half of the year with a refreshed soul.
The ritual ceremony is called chinowa kuguri and held on the last day of June and December.

Shimenawa (sacred twists of ricestraw rope)
A shimenawa is a straw rope with white zigzag paper strips (gohei). It marks the boundary to something sacred and can be found on torii gates, around sacred trees and stones, etc. in the shirine. A rope similar to the shimenawa is also worn by yokozuna, the highest ranked sumo wrestlers, during ritual ceremonies.

Tokyo Station
The red brick building of Tokyo station took six and a half years to build and opened in 1914. Although the original rail terminus was in nearby Shinbashi, this dignified and graceful Western-style station building became the heart of Japan's national rail system. It was designated an Important Cultural Asset in 2003.

AYAKO Shinto shrine
The Ayako Shrine was the first Shinto shrine of many to deify the scholar Sugawara Michizane (845-903) as Tenjin, and is thus considered the origin of the cult to Tenjin. The shrine is small, and is decorated with images from the picture scrolls of Sugawara's biography and history.
