Meeting Myself as a Child . . .

Kinue Shima Recently, I've had "wave motion" on my mind.

According to the Meikyô Dictionary of Japanese, the term "wave motion" is "the phenomenon of movements which are produced at a point in space and successively transmitted into the surrounding environment. These may include water waves occurring on the water's surface, seismic waves, and electromagnetic waves." Until recently, I had absolutely no awareness of the concept of "wave motion."
But once I became aware of this, there were numerous situations where I would think, "that's wave motion . . . " Just when I'm thinking, "I have to get in touch with so-and-so," that person contacts me, or I meet the same person every time I go to the sports club even though I go at different times. Surprisingly, there are lots of times when it's hard to come up with any other explanation but "wave motion."

The lush green of spring was glorious on the day in May when I paid a visit to psychic therapist Kinue Shima. I met her at her office in Hakozaki, just as her book "Psychic Therapy: Your Soul's True Purpose " was being prepared for promotion abroad. Meeting her in her office with such an enviable view, she was much more beautiful than she looked in her photographs. Even to the untrained eye, she emitted a positive aura, and was overflowing with an energy which didn't come through in the pictures.

Seventy percent of those who come to her for therapy are female. Until several years ago, they were mainly in their twenties and thirties, but these days there are more and more in their fifties and sixties. Shima's hypnotic solutions include a variety of techniques such as traveling back to the past to seek out one's inner child, past life regression therapy, and aura reading. Particularly popular is personally experiencing the past or tracing the future. She also conducts seminars abroad, with those in the West focusing on the soul and previous incarnations. Clinical hypnotheraphy aimed at modifying habits or behavior is also popular there. Despite the cultural differences, this kind of therapy is also becoming more commonplace here.

"Oh, I just realized that your appointment calendar is full for the next several months." This must be because her book, "Psychic Therapy: Your Soul's True Purpose " has come out. This is a guidebook for carrying out self therapy, but it also talks about the self therapy of the "inner child" which is so popular now. "Inner child" means your "inner self" - in other words, the self that existed in you at the time that you were a child. In many cases, this "inner child" has been emotionally scarred, and harbors anxieties or fears. This prevents us from maturing because it keeps us perpetually in the emotional state of a child. If you can confront the inner child, then you can communicate with it, and if necessary embrace it. Then you can heal the wounds and return to a healthy state, and the therapy comes to an end.

I tried this too, actually. I stretched out on my comfortable bed at home, closed my eyes, and relaxed . . . If you try it, you'll find it's not all that easy. Once you properly master the relaxation method, before long you will want to meet your "inner self." I wonder how old the self inside me is . . .
